TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A man accused of smashing his Jeep into the side of a Wendy's restaurant in west Toledo appeared in court Tuesday.
Police say Joseph Lisowski, 59, crashed his Jeep Liberty into the Wendy's drive-thru on Laskey Road near Jackman Road just after 11 a.m. Aug. 1. Officers at the scene say Lisowski told them the Jeep accelerated on its own and he had no control over the vehicle.
However, police found two bottles of brandy under the passenger's seat, and one of the bottles was open. They say Lisowski admitted he drank two beers along with other alcohol before the crash. Lisowski refused to take a blood test at the hospital.
In court, Lisowski entered a not guilty plea. He was released on his own recognizance.
