Perrysburg Schools are adding another level of security throughout the district; a new school resource officer will be joining the school staff next year.
The Superintendent Tom Hosler says the district is the largest in northwest Ohio without a school resource officer.
Now that they have the extra money in the budget, officials want to do all they can to keep students safe.
"Having somebody with that expertise be a part of our school community on a daily basis is essential. If we don't have it we're missing the mark," said Hosler.
The school resource officer will also help formulate plans for ALICE training, and educate students and staff about how to stay safe during an emergency.
