Mall of Monroe to raise awareness with anti-bullying event Saturday

MONROE, MI (Toledo News Now) -

The Mall of Monroe is proud to present Malls and Retailers Unite against Bullying, sponsored by Captain McFinn and Friends, in a special event that coincides with National Bully Prevention Month.

At this free event Saturday morning, you'll be able to sign an "Anti-Bullying Pledge." The first 100 kids to sign the pledge will receive a free goody bag courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings.

Kids will also be able to make anti-bullying posters, thanks to the Salvation Army.

The sponsor of the event is Captain McFinn and Friends, an original educational book series designed to promote kindness and friendship for children in kindergarten all the way to second grade.

Schedule:

  • 10 a.m. - Monroe Martial Arts presentation on bullying
  • 10:30 a.m. - Mall of Monroe donates K-2 Educational Resource program on bully prevention to Jefferson Schools
  • 11 a.m. - Peg Harris dancers perform, then lead the march around the mall, ending in the food court, where you can sign the pledge

  • Groups from the Salvation Army, Domestic Violence, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Captain McFinn himself
