SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Good news for local parents - a popular play spot is expanding. Sylvania's 'Playland' is an indoor playground and bounce house. It's especially popular in the colder, wetter months when parents are looking for activities to do with kids.
It's an affordable rainy day activity that's only going to get bigger and better over the next year or so. The owners of Sylvania Playland bought the property next to their building, demolished a house, and now they plan on adding 75 new parking spots.
The business opened its doors just four years ago. Since then, they have more than doubled their staff size, expanded their services, added parking and plan to expand even more.
The additional parking comes just in time for the company's busiest time of year. Moriah Yant says it will be completed by the end of the year.
"Starting in November, we pick up and we have parties going on all day long on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the parking lot is filled, packed out there. And so, it was very important for us to make more room for more parking," explained Moriah Yant with Sylvania Playland.
In the past year, Sylvania Playland added a new game room, an ice cream and snack bar, plus glow-in-the-dark mini golf.
Kristen Andrews says she brings her son there to play at least twice a month.
"It provides a nice space for the community to get together and just have a nice open space for kids to interact and play in a natural environment that's stimulating too," said Andrews.
During the winter months, Sylvania Playland will also add more food to its menu.
