North Baltimore waiting for work to resume on sewer project

Posted: Updated:
NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The government shutdown didn't just affect national programs and parks. It also shut down vital construction improvement projects in the area.

A sewer line separation project in North Baltimore has been going on for over a year. Due to the government shutdown, no work has been done on it this month.

The EPA mandated separation of the storm sewer and sanitation sewer lines last year. The $6.3 million project was funded through a loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The funding for the project ended during the shutdown. Crews left behind equipment and gaping holes in roads and yards.

Now that the shutdown is over, the gears are expected to begin turning again soon, but the engineering firm out of Findlay, Peterman Associates, in charge of the project did not return phone calls from Toledo News Now.
