TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A new program in our area will help local minority businesses gain access to state contracts.

A series of workshops presented by state employment agencies starts Monday night at the Kent Branch Library.

Toledo City Council president Paula Hicks-Hudson along with State Senator Edna Brown say they spoke with business owners in our area, who said it's difficult to obtain state contracts.

"The goal is to provide expert resources to businesses in this area, in order to help them achieve certification, and thereby qualify to get state business," said Jackie Williams, Chief of the Minority Business Division of the Ohio Department of Development.

Monday night's workshop will take place from 6pm to 8pm.

There will be another workshop Tuesday night from 6pm to 8pm, which will also be held at the Kent Branch Library.
