Chesterfield police are investigating a report of a woman who says she was pulled over by someone pretending to be an officer.
The police department does not believe the "officer" was one of their own so they are trying to get to the bottom of this allegation.
According to Chesterfield police, the woman was pulled over Saturday morning in the 800 block of Charter Colony Parkway. The woman told police, the person was driving an unmarked police car with flashing lights.
That stretch of Charter Colony is heavily trafficked and very populated. John Tyler Community College is there and so is Chesterfield Heights Retirement Community.
Valerie Campbell runs the retirement community and was shocked when we told her the news. "We have elderly here who still drive and I have high school kids who work for me so it's very concerning."
There are two high schools nearby including Midlothian High School and Clover Hill High School.
Chesterfield police had just begun the investigation so they weren't able to elaborate on what the exchange was between the fake officer and the victim. Nor could they say what the suspect allegedly wanted.
If you are ever pulled over and find the situation to be suspicious, you can call the police department's non-emergency number and ask if they have units in the area where you are.
