APPLICATION DATES FOR CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE
The Salvation Army to accept application for Holiday Assistance

 

September 25, 2013 (NORTHWEST OHIO) – The Salvation Army will be accepting applications for Holiday Assistance throughout the month of October for residents in Lucas County.  Applications will be accepted at the Lucas County Jobs & Family Services offices located at 3210 Monroe Street on October 1, 3, 8, and 10 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  Applications will be accepted at The Salvation Army offices located at 620 N Erie Street from Monday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 23 through Friday, October 25 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  Applications will also be accepted downtown on Tuesday, October 24 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, as well as Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. The following documentation is required for all applications:

  1. Picture ID for all adults in the household
  2. Proof of income for the household (current date within 30 days)
    1. Pay Stub OR
    2. Unemployment OR
    3. SS/SSI/SSD Printout
  3. Proof of address (must have the applicants name, address, and a current date within 30 days)
    1. Utility bill OR
    2. Rent receipt
  4. Birth certificates for each child in the household OR one of the following (which must include a birthdate):
    1. Medical card OR
    2. Report card OR
    3. Printout from Social Security OR
    4. Income tax return from 2012 OR
    5. Custody papers (if child is not birth child)

In 2012, The Salvation Army assisted 2,259 families during the Christmas season through Christmas Assistance, and 155 more families through the "Adopt-A-Family" program.  The Salvation Army is currently looking for individuals or groups who are interested in participating in the annual "Adopt-A-Family" or "Adopt-A-Kettle" campaigns.  For more information about either program, please visit our website at www.salvationarmynwohio.org or contact The Salvation Army at 419-241-1138.
