SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Researchers from Promedica Cancer Institute have released the findings of a new study showing the benefits of Nia exercise for individuals with breast cancer.
Nia is a sensory-based exercise which combines music, dancing, and martial arts. The results of a 12-week study show that patients who participated in the exercise while receiving radiation therapy had significantly reduced fatigue, as well as better mobility in their arms and shoulders.
The study was the first nationally to investigate Nia's effects on patients undergoing cancer treatment, and its findings were published in the Oncology Nursing Forum.
