Toledo City Councilman Adam Martinez is throwing his support behind Mayor Mike Bell's bid for reelection.
Martinez says he has had his fair share of disagreements with the mayor over the years, but credits Bell for making tough decisions at tough times. Included in those ‘tough decisions' is Bell's choice to suspend union contracts in an effort to balance the city's budget, which Martinez supported.
"When it comes to finding necessary solutions to the advanced needs of our community, one name win's out. When it comes to making hard decisions, only one man has stood his ground. This is why, today, I'm supporting Mayor Mike Bell for his reelection campaign," Martinez said Thursday.
Martinez, a democrat, is disagreeing with the state party with his endorsement of Bell. The Ohio Democratic Party has put its support behind Bell's opponent, Councilman Mike Collins. Both Bell and Collins are running for mayor as independents.
The Mayor was on hand at a press conference Thursday to thank Martinez for his support. Bell also endorsed Martinez in his bid for reelection to Toledo City Council.
Don't miss Leading Edge with Jerry Anderson this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on WTOL 11, when Adam Martinez will discuss his endorsement of Mayor Bell and his own reelection campaign.
