By Dr. Mike Bower, Owens Community College President
(Toledo News Now) - A hallmark program in the
northwest Ohio community since 1969, the Owens Community College Registered
Nursing Program remains dedicated to ensuring students receive the highest-quality
I am pleased to share that
Owens recently received official notice from the Accreditation Commission for
Education in Nursing, formally the National League Nursing Accrediting
Commission, that our registered nursing program has regained program
accreditation through spring of 2018.
Since 1971, Owens'
Registered Nursing Program has continuously maintained full approval by the
Ohio Board of Nursing, which is the highest level that a nursing education
program can achieve.
Evidence of our quality has
been demonstrated in our students excelling on the National Council Licensing
Exam - the license required to practice nursing. During the first two quarters
of 2013, 80 students passed the exam on the first attempt, resulting in a pass
rate of 95.4 percent, which exceeds both the national and state passage rates.
We appreciate the unending support of the communities of
northwest Ohio and look forward to serving as your community college for many
years to come.
