in and out of Terra Community College has been a problem for many, so
officials are working to redesign the school entrance.
college is located off State Route 53 and Napoleon Road in Fremont. State Route
53 is a busy road where cars travel 55 miles per hour, making it difficult for
students to turn into the college lot.
officials say the entrance has been the site of several accidents in the past,
so now they're hoping a remodeled entrance will change that. Blueprints were
laid out this week for a new roundabout to be built at the front of the
college. Officials say the roundabout will make the entrance easier for
visitors to find, and it will force drivers to slow down. It will also help
those leaving campus.
the past, we've also had major incidents where we've tried to evacuate the
campus and we could not do that with one entrance," explained Randall
McCullough, vice president of financial affairs for the college. "So we also
knew that we needed to expand on the entrance/exit off the campus to improve on
egress off campus."
school plans to submit a request for $4.2 million in state funding by Dec. 1.
