Christ Hospital is giving students a unique perspective on the operating room.
The 14th annual live surgery experience by The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences invited students from 26 area high schools to have a first-hand look at the experience on Tuesday.
Participants observed a heart surgery performed by Robert Gallegos, MD, PhD, via a video feed to the hospital auditorium.
All of the students, who have expressed interest in a future in healthcare, were given the opportunity to interact with those in the operating room through a moderator during the procedure. They could also ask the surgeon questions following the surgery.
