movie theaters are a beloved family pastime, but that tradition is fading as
advances in technology are proving to be too costly to keep up with.
Hudson Cinema is a two-screen,
family-owned theater, owned and operated by Rob and Heather Hall. The theater
has been open for seven years.
movies come to the theater on 35MM film, but those are getting harder to come
by. Production companies are going digital, meaning the Halls have to upgrade
their theater to be able to show them. The upgrade costs $60,000 – money they
just don't have.

tickets for our customers because families can enjoy themselves."

days to raise the money. They've raised just under $20,000 so far, but if they
don't reach their goal by Nov. 12, not only will they have to start back at $0,
they might have to close their doors.
