Waterville area residents have a new way to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription and over the counter drugs.
Awake Community Coalition has placed a green drop off box in the lobby of the Waterville Police Department. Residents can come in and drop off unwanted pills Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Liquid medicines and gel caps will not be accepted.
"People who can't maybe get their hands on illicit drugs are willing to try prescription drugs to see what kind of high they can get, so this may be a way of preventing some of that" said Waterville Police Chief David LaGrange.
The Waterville Police Department is located at 25 North 2nd Street in Waterville.
