(Toledo News Now) -

Devin Kohlman is a 13-year-old boy from Port Clinton battling brain cancer.

His community decided to decorate for the holidays early since he may not get to see them this year. After approval during Monday night's village council meeting, crews in Oak Harbor got to work Tuesday morning hanging holiday lights and Christmas trees in their own town.

The mayor says they want to show solidarity within the two communities.

"I just hope that this brings a little joy to Devin," Mayor Bill Eberle said. "I know Christmas is his favorite holiday, and hopefully it lightens everybody's heart a little bit."

Since our story first aired, people all around the world have come together to make Devin's last days special. Thousands of Christmas cards and gifts have been pouring in for the last week.
