State Route 53 has reopened south of Fremont after two accidents had it closed Friday.
Around 10:30 a.m. a semi and a pickup truck collided at the intersection. A dog riding in the passenger seat of the pickup was thrown from the vehicle and killed.
The accident caused the semi truck to veer off the roadway and into a roadside cemetery, knocking over headstones. Life Flight was called to the scene, and transported the driver or the car to a Toledo area hospital.
After the first accident, a driver in the northbound lanes ran over downed power lines, knocking out power to the area. The driver in the second accident was not hurt.
