LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Warm autumn tones highlight 7,000 American flags at Cave Hill Cemetery in honor of Veterans Day.
Every headstone was marked when Frederick Moore and his army of volunteers left Cave Hill Cemetery. "We're lucky here in Louisville because the patriotic base here is amazing," Moore said.
For Boy Scout Connor Higdon, it's the graves without a name that resonates with him the most. "I kind of feel bad because they fought and no one knows their names or where they came from," Higdon said.
Only a number on the headstone pays tribute to the unknown soldiers. All 670 grave sites were honored during Saturday's Flags4Vets event
"When I stand here and put a flag on one of those graves, I'm doing it in place of the family because who else is going to? We have to." Moore said.
