Home Depot honors veterans with flag raising ceremony

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

In honor of Veterans Day, the Home Depot on Secor Road in west Toledo held a special flag raising ceremony with several veterans in attendance, including a few who work at the store.

Members from the VFW 606 and Air Force 180th and 200th, along with five Home Depot employees participated in the ceremony.

Store manager John Smith says raising the flag was a symbolic gesture showing appreciation for those who have served our country.

"Raising the flag for us is just symbolic. Every day we do have - every Home Depot has flags out in front. This was just a way to kind of commemorate today and have them involved in the raising of our flag here at the store," said Smith.

This was the first event this store has done, but many involved hope to make it an annual event.
