City to allocate $510K towards Overland Industrial Park redevelopment

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Efforts by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to redevelop the former Jeep Parkway site, now called the Overland Industrial Park, were given another boost by the city.

Toledo City Council has approved $510,000 from its 2 percent utility fund for installing 4,200 feet of new water and sewer lines.

Matt Sapara, who has been managing the project for the port authority, says vertical construction is on the horizon and help from the city will boost efforts to attract additional private investment.

"We've had a lot of success, in terms of going in and doing the remediation, ripping out the heavy foundations. Now, we're really going towards vertical construction in order to facilitate that. We need that infrastructure in place to have projects come in and locate there," said Sapara.

Groundbreaking on the new Airgas facility is expected to happen within a matter of weeks, and construction for a new spec building for manufacturing operations is expected early next year.
