months of construction, the new Fostoria rail park is finally set to open.
park is called the Iron Triangle, and city leaders are hoping train fanatics
will hop on board.
any given day, Fostoria residents can hear horns blaring as trains pass through
town, but now the city has found a way to capitalize on the rails running
through downtown with a new park, set to officially open on Friday.
has been underway since April at the park off South Poplar Street, where tourists
will be able to sit back under a viewing platform and take photos of more than
100 trains that pass through the area.
Eric Keckler says he expects the unique park, which cost just under $1 million
to build, to bring more outsiders into the city.
you come through on any given day, you can see a license plate from anywhere in
the country," he said. "Sometimes they'll fly in from other counties and drive
in, and just do train destinations and check out different areas. I think this
will make it a destination for a lot of different people from all over the
country, and really, from all over the world to come and see."
leaders have not yet decided if the park will stay open 24 hours a day. A
ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Friday at 3 p.m.
