The Hamilton County OVI Task Force has announced a sobriety checkpoint Friday night in Spring Grove Village.
The checkpoint will be held in the 4500 block of Spring Grove Avenue. The location was chosen through a site selection process that focuses on the frequency and severity of the impaired driving problem in the area.
Checkpoint operations begin at 9:00 p.m. and end at 1:00 a.m.
Since October 1, 2012, the Cincinnati Police Department has arrested 102 drivers for operating a vehicle while impaired near the checkpoint location. During the same time period, 35 OVI-related crashes occurred, two of which resulted in serious injuries.
The OVI Task Force hopes that this checkpoint enhances public awareness of the OVI problem and serves as a deterrent to potential OVI violators.
