A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a woman from Goldonna, Louisiana.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning on Louisiana highway 474 in Florien, in Sabine Parish.
According to Ron Rivers, Sabine Parish deputy coroner, the driver was traveling east in a 2005 Chevy Impala. The car left the road in a sharp, left curve and the driver, Mckenna B. Sanders, 20, over-corrected causing the vehicle to leave the road. The car slid sideways before slamming into a tree, Rivers said.
A homeowner heard the impact in the front yard but thought it was a clap of thunder. It wasn't until later in the morning that the homeowner noticed the wreck and called authorities, Rivers said.
Sanders was unrestrained inside the car and was killed on impact, River said. According to Rivers, there were several containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.
The body as sent to University Health in Shreveport for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to see if alcohol contributed to the accident.
