(WMC-TV) - Where are my kids going to school next year? That is the question many parents want to know. School leaders are working to get Cordova residents those responses Thursday.
School zoning concerns were the focus of another school meeting in Cordova Thursday. The Cordova Leadership Council sponsored the meeting.
Micheline Akins and her family moved to the community from Alabama, and the current situation has this teacher thinking about her children.
"And that's actually an option I thought about: teaching. And then sending my kids where I go," she said.
South Cordova parents have been especially concerned since becoming a part of the city. As a result the unified district kids who currently attend Germantown schools may not get to next year.
"I'm pretty good about answering parents," said Shelby County Schools board member Billy Orgel. "I think a lot of times the teachers teach just to pass the test, and there's more to it than that.
