Authorities are searching for a cause after a fire heavily damaged a home in East Price Hill.
Fire crews received reports of the fire around 4:40 p.m. on Friday in the 1000 block of Regina Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the attic of a two-story brick building.
After entering the building, firefighters had trouble accessing the attic due to the inability to find a hidden interior stairwell. Fire crews say that the stairwell had been dry-walled over on the second floor level.
Fire crews say they had to access the attic via the third floor window and eventually through the hidden stairs.
Fire crews say no one was home at the time of the fire.
Damage has been estimated at $40 thousand. No one was injured in the blaze.
The displaced family is being assisted by Red Cross.
