Seniors get personal seasonal santas to help during the holidays
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Making the holidays brighter is a part of the season every year, especially for area seniors.
Home Instead Senior Care is sponsoring "Santa for Seniors," working with local businesses to set up trees in area retailers. The trees are decorated with paper ornaments with names of seniors you can sponsor by buying an item they need.
Sara Akin, a Santa for a senior says, "any of the families don't live in the same cities where the seniors are in nursing homes or just need extra, everyday lotions and soaps and smell-good things, that is really a luxury for them."
Assistant Manager at Walmart, James Smith, said, "anytime you're helping in the community, it's always a great feeling. And that's what this time of year is about really."
You can find a helping tree at the Wal-mart store in Jonesboro, Walnut Ridge, and Trumann. You can also help at the Walgreens store in Jonesboro, Paragould, and Blytheville and at the Dollar General in Marked Tree.
All of the gifts will be collected from the listed locations on December 12, just in time to deliver them to those in need.
