STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A Statesville man has been charged with raping a child after investigators say he sexually assaulted two teen girls.

De'Ante Lybrian Denny, 18, of Statesville, is charged with one count of statutory rape of a child, first degree statutory sexual offense and first degree burglary, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office opened their investigation after the teens reported the incident to school staff.

One of the two female victims was interviewed at the Dove House on Nov. 21.

Detectives met with the suspect and spoke with him.

Denny was taken into custody on Tuesday without incident.

Denny was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was placed under a secured bond for these charges.

He is scheduled to appear in District Court in Statesville on Nov. 27, according to the release.

Further charges are expected in this matter as more victims are interviewed.
