The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious one car accident in Elyria Township.
The crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. on December 2, on Murray Ridge Road at the west junction with Griswold Road.
There was one person inside the vehicle, a black 2011 Ford F-250 at the time of the crash and no other vehicles were involved.
The driver has been identified as Stanley Langford, 46, of Murray Ridge Rd in Elyria.
According to officers, Langford was traveling northbound on Murray Ridge Road and "failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection with Griswold Road."
Langford reportedly drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole before coming to rest on the north side of the roadway.
Authorities confirm that he was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is suspected as factor in the crash.
Langford may be charged pending the outcome of the investigation.
He was transported to the Elyria Memorial Hospital and his current condition is not available at this time.
Griswold and Murray Ridge Roads are currently closed at the west intersection due to downed power lines.
Ohio Edison is on scene and it is unknown when the roadways will reopen.
