AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

David Spondike was terminated from the Akron Public Schools after the school board voted Monday evening.

Spondike was accused for racist comments made on his person Facebook page from October.

According to Mark Williamson, communications director for the Akron Public Schools, Spondike is suspended from the district without pay.

After ten days, he has the option to request a second hearing with the school board.

But, so far the district has not heard from Spondike or his lawyer.

The Akron Public Schools launched the investigation into the matter after complaints of Spondike's use of the "n-word" on his personal page.

Spondike teaches music at Firestone High School and has been with the district for 15 years.
