An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting on Cleveland's west side. It happened on Monday night around 9:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of W. 32nd Street.
A Cleveland police shooting on Monday night comes just months after a new policy for officers restricting when they can shoot at or from a moving vehicle.
Monday night on Cleveland's west side, police say a driver in a stolen minivan backed into police vehicles and nearly ran over officers. He then crashed into a fence and an officer fired four times, hitting him in the stomach. Police say the suspect tried to run away, but the officers chased him down.
A policy sent out on August 23 said officers shall not discharge any firearm at or from a moving vehicle unless deadly force is being used against the police officer or another person by means other than the vehicle.
