CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Instead of fearing bad luck, this Friday the 13th many people hope to cash in on a good fortune - to the tune of $400 million.
"Do you already have your Mega Millions for tonight?" Questioned a clerk of a customer inside the Thorntons gas station on U.S. 31 in Clarksville. "You can't win if you don't play, right?"
"I got my kids age, my wife's age and my dad's age," said Jeremy Frye of Bardstown, Kentucky said of his lucky number picks.
"I've got a $5 quick pick," said Nick Dysart of New Albany, Indiana.
They may have had their strategies, but numbers had yet to be drawn Friday morning. Still, many of the customers already knew what they would do with the Mega Millions money if lucky enough to win.
"[I would] buy my mom and myself a new car," said Michael Snelling of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
"I'd pay off all my bills of course," began Dysart, "Then I'd probably quit my job."
After 20 rolls without a winner, the Mega Millions Jackpot sat at $400 million Friday; the second largest jackpot ever.
At $1 per ticket, WAVE 3 News Reporter Cedra Mayfield figured she would try her luck, but she questioned her real odds of winning.
Turned out, Mega Millions hopefuls would be more likely to become President at odds of one to 10 million. But the list of more likely things to happen than winning Friday's $400 million jackpot did not stop there.

The official odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot: 1 in 259 million. Even with odds that low, on Friday the 13th, many customers' hopes remained intact.
"I'm ready to win," said Snelling.
"I've never bought one," said one customer, "so it's got to be beginner's luck, right?"
"It's pretty crazy," said Frye.
That craze continued to build as time ticked down to the Mega Millions drawing at 11 p.m.
If a winner is drawn, Friday's Mega Millions will be the fifth largest jackpot in North American history. If the winner selects the cash prize option over an annuity, the payout will total about $216 million.
