The Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency is taking action ahead of the predicted heavy rains that are headed our way, to help keep homes and businesses dry.
Volunteers are being sent to Indianapolis to get 36,000 sand bags. The bags will be in addition to the 26,000 on hand right now.
Andy Chandler with the EMA says the agency is concerned about low-lying areas in both downtown and the southeast side.
Chandler says water can back up and flood roadways in minutes.
If you need sandbags, contact the EMA at (812) 435-6020.
