WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Across the country, Super Saturday brought out shoppers to do last-minute gift hunting. The case was the same in downtown Wilmington.
Temperatures in the mid-seventies led crowds flocking to the Riverwalk to enjoy the beautiful weather and frequent some of the shops on Front Street.
Fran Barr, a holiday shopper from Minnesota, said she enjoys shopping much more in warm weather.
"I'm from Minneapolis- cold, cold, cold," explained Barr. "It's not easy to shop there. Here it's very easy."
Employees at local businesses also thought that Super Saturday automatically leads to extra shoppers because it's its own retail holiday.
"Anybody can drive to the mall or drive to Target and stop in there," said Michael Ussery of the Edge of Urge.
"On those special days, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and Super Saturday, it gives (shoppers) a reason, a destination, that we're gonna go out today with the intention of shopping somewhere we don't normally go or regularly go," he explained.
