LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Initial repairs are complete on the Kennedy Interchange allowing the ramp that carries traffic from I-65 north to I-64 west to reopen, according to Mindy Peterson of the Bridges Project.
The initial test results indicated concrete degradation in the column and additional tests are underway. KYTC said they will use the results to develop a long-term repair plan.
"Safety is always our top priority," said Andy Barber, KYTC Downtown Crossing project manager. "That's why our team will be inspecting all piers in the Kennedy Interchange in the coming weeks."
The ramp was initially closed Friday evening after an inspection discovered concrete crumbling.
