Former Indian Chris Perez signs a new contract with LA
Whoever sent that package to Chris Perez's dog this past summer will have to send future packages to a new address in Los Angeles. On Monday the Dodgers signed Perez to a one year contract.
Perez attended the winter meetings in Buena Vista, Fla, to meet with club officials. He drew interest from the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets before signing with the Dodgers.
The 28 year old right hander had a career-high 39 saves in 2012, striking out 59 batters with a 3.59 ERA.
The Cleveland Indians let Perez go in October, he struggled in 2013 posting a 4.33 ERA and blew five saves in 56 appearances. To add to the problems he was arrested in June for receiving a package containing marijuana which was addressed to his dog Brody. Perez pled no contest and was put on probation for the misdemeanor drug charge.
Perez made 7.3 million with the Indians last season, the financial details of this deal are still unknown.
