Cleveland (WOIO) - The first time Kyrie Irving saw the Atlanta Hawks this season, three weeks ago, he went for zero. Zero points, for the first time in his NBA career. His second meeting was far more productive, even if it did fall short.
Irving threw down a game-high 40 points, as the Cavaliers took the Hawks to double-overtime on Thursday night, before Jeff Teague's game-winning jump shot won it for Atlanta, 127-125 at the "Q".
Teague led the Hawks with 34 points, while Al Horford added 25, including the bucket that tied the game at the end of regulation.
Tristan Thompson scored 22 points for the Cavs, while Dion Waiters added 20 off the bench, but it was Irving who stole the show in the two overtimes, dueling Kyle Korver with 3-pt shots, as the teams exchanged blows. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the final shot came from Teague, as time expired.
