LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Jeep used to haul stolen copper was the first vehicle to be impounded since a scrap metal ordinance was amended.
According to Louisville Metro police, on December 26 officers responded to a report of a break-in in the 3000 block of Craig Avenue. When they arrived they found three people sitting in a Jeep near the rear of the home. Inside the vehicle officers found copper plumbing.
Officers impounded the Jeep and charged a woman and two men with burglary.
In 2012 the Louisville Metro Council approved the impounding of vehicle used for illegal dumping. In August 2012 the impoundment of vehicles used to transport stolen metals was added.
