Michael Vaughan, the Latonia man who is accused of engaging in a 20-hour standoff with Covington Police last month, waived on Thursday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court his right to a have a hearing about being extradited to Kentucky.
Vaughan, 43, was shot in the shoulder during the final minutes of a 20 hour-standoff in Latonia. Vaughan was taken to UC Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. He was transferred from UC Medical Center to the Hamilton County Justice Center on Tuesday.
Covington Police cited post traumatic stress disorder as a possible trigger for Vaughan's actions and also obtained a mental health warrant to have him evaluated.
Vaughan is charged with attempted murder of a police officer. He will appear in Kenton District Court Friday morning. He is lodged in the Kenton County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
