Lubbock police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 3600 block of Itasca around 1:22 a.m. Monday morning.
The caller said the suspect was armed with a handgun.
Officers got three adults out of the house but were told that the suspect, Adam Plyler, 34, had locked himself in an upstairs bathroom and that there was a 4-year-old child in a downstairs bedroom.
While officers were safely removing the child, they say Plyler went through the attic of the house and into the attic of an attached house next door.
Police say the Plyler cut through a fire wall into the neighbor's attic and emerged in an upstairs bedroom, surprising the family that was sleeping there.
Plyler was taken into custody while trying to exit by the front door of the neighbor's house.
Police say they recovered weapons, narcotics, stolen property, and a stolen vehicle.
Plyler is being charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespass, felon in possession of firearm, and possession of misidentifying information.
