Cleveland Water Department workers found a boy walking outside by himself in the bitter cold on Thursday.
The crews spotted the child around noon in the area of West 17th and Denison Avenue.
Not seeing another adult and concerned for his safety, the workers put the boy in their heated truck and called police.
The boy appeared to be between the age of 3 and 4. He was wearing pajamas and a jacket.
Cleveland EMS transported the child to Metro as a precaution, but he was not injured.
Cleveland Police were able to locate a relative, who had been sleeping, and the child was then returned to the mother, not to the relative who was babysitting.
No charges have been filed.
