MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

A semi truck driver is in the hospital following an accident on I-75 late Friday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. Friday on southbound I-75, south of Summit Street in Erie Township.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Daniel Lemley, 52, of New Boston, Michigan, lost control of his semi truck while exiting the freeway.

Lemley struck a Start Towing Tow Truck and a disabled vehicle before his semi truck rolled clockwise and spun into the snow on the left side of the freeway.

Investigators say the tow truck, operated by Robert Bayer, 54, of Monroe, was assisting a disabled Mercury Marauder on the right shoulder at the time of the accident.

Valeria Berry, 50, of Detroit, was driving the disabled vehicle with a teenaged passenger inside.

Neither the tow truck driver, nor the occupants of the disabled vehicle were injured during the crash.

Lemley was life flighted to UTMC Hospital in Toledo. He is listed in critical condition.

Officers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
