PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Tuition at Owens Community College could be on the rise. Trustees are discussing tacking on more money to the price of admission.
Currently, students pay about $150 per credit hour, but that could increase up to $3.57.
No final decisions have been reached. Trustees still have to approve legislation in order for any tuition increases to happen.
Owens officials say they are still in the budgeting process, but raising tuition is not out of the ordinary. According to officials, the state has allowed tuition increases for the past four years. They do not want students or parents to be alarmed about the possible change.
"No panic alarm just yet. We just wanted the ability to go up to the maximum amount without having to rush to our board of trustees to approve legislation," explained Laurie Sabin, CFO at Owens.
Trustees will have a final decision about tuition costs by March.
