WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -
One person is dead and another is in the hospital after an overnight crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near milepost 169 in Wood County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shortly before 2 a.m. a tractor trailer driven by Kenneth Mossbarger, 42, of Tipp City, OH, was stopped northbound on I-75 for a traffic crash. Stephen Humphries, 22, of Nitro, WV, was driving a Nissan Versa and failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead, striking the tractor trailer from behind.
Humphries was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front passenger, Jessica King, 23, of Kanawha, WV, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is listed in critical condition. The truck driver was uninjured.
I-75 northbound was shut down for approximately two hours. The lanes have since reopened.
