BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Bowling Green High School drama program is one in four schools across the country being given the rights to do the musical Mary Poppins before its release.

"People know that when they come they get a class A show. That's something to be proud of. And being one in four, we definitely deserved it," said Abby Paskvan, who will be playing the role of Mary Poppins.

The show will be Abby's fourth at Bowling Green High School. For Andrew Crowe, who is playing the role of Burt, this is his first show.

"There were a lot of people that wanted this role, and being my first year in theatre, it was kind of nerve racking getting it, but a lot of people in the drama club are giving me tons of support," said Andrew.

The rights to the high school version of Mary Poppins are not available at this time.  At a conference over the summer the program's director, Dr. Jo Beth Gonzalez, met the right person.

"In a breath he said ‘well would you like to pilot Mary Poppins?' and of course I said ‘absolutely we would like to do that," said Gonzalez.

The high school often teams up with the middle school, and you'll see students of all age ranges in the play.

"I really like that because it gives kids to get an early start from the middle school into the high school, because the high school is definitely very big with the productions," said Bob Walthers, who will be playing the role of Michael Banks.

Performances of the show will begin in April.
