Say goodbye to winter at the Toledo Zoo

Will March come in like a lion and out like a lamb? No matter the weather, the Toledo Zoo is your family's springtime destination.

All month long: Zoo Snoozes from 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Families with children ages 6 or older camp overnight at the zoo for a fast-paced evening of animal interaction, exclusive tours, zookeeper talks and more. Separate fee; advance registration required.

March 1: Wine Tastings from 7 - 9 p.m.

Sip on chardonnays, shiraz and more, after hours at the lush floral extravaganza of Spring Alive, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank. Call 419-385-5721, ext. 6001 to reserve your place (Ages 21 and up only). Separate fee; zoo member discount applies.

March 1-2: Spring Alive: Fairy Tales, Fables & Flowers

Fun blooms at this winter floral extravaganza, featuring beloved childhood stories, family-friendly activities, animal enrichment and more, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank. Free with regular zoo admission.

Starting March 4: Animal Tales: Perfect Pets, times vary

Ages 3-4. Learn what makes a good pet, and how to take care of those beloved animals. Advance registration required, Choose from classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Separate fee; zoo member discount applies.

March 8: Flying Reptiles Exhibit Opens

In the zoo's historic Reptile House, see the animals whose ancestors ruled the sky, from the small Nyctosaurus to the airplane-size Quetzalcoatlus. Free with regular zoo admission.

March 8-9: Science of Animals and Flight

Sure, birds fly, but how? Explore the science that makes it happen - and meet some cool animals, too - at the Indoor Theatre inside the Museum of Science. Free with regular zoo admission.

March 9: Final Day of Butterfly Encounter

Butterflies flutter by as you walk through this free-flight exhibit in the Museum of Science. Free with regular zoo admission.

March 19: Greenhouse Tour from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo's beautiful Greenhouse and learn from their horticulture experts. Space is limited and registration is required. Free with regular zoo admission.

March 22: Teddy Bear Care Fair from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Get a check-up and even a quick fix for your little stuffed buddy as you learn about how the zoo cares for its own thousands of animal. Plus, if you're ready to adopt a real, live animal, Planned Pethood will be on hand to help you find the perfect pet. Free with regular zoo admission.

April 1: Animal Tales: Tree-mendous Animals, times vary

Ages 3-4 with adult. Branch out into the world of trees and discover the critters that call them home. Advance registration required. Choose from classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Separate fee; zoo member discount applies.
