NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - A southern Indiana girl who survived an early January fire that killed her three siblings is expected to be released from the hospital March 7.
The grandmother of Tatyana Hughes, 5, said if all goes well she'll be released from Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis Friday afternoon. "When she comes home she'll need to do rehab at the hospital once a week," Marie Hughes Clark said.
Clark also said there will be a parade will be in New Albany Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the library and end at the recreation center where Tatyana will present an award to the firefighter who rescued her.
Tatyana was hurt in the January 4 arson that killed her three siblings, Trinity Hughes, age 2, Tyrese Hughes, age 4, and Tai'zah Hughes, age 6, in a home on Ealy Street.
Police have arrested Cody Cashion, 18, Kylie Jenks, 19, Shelby Makowsky, 18 and a 17-year-old juvenile in connection to the fire where investigators said Cashion fired a flare into the house.
Tatyana and her siblings were visiting the house. The intended target was not home.
