2005 Bentley featured at Cleveland Police Auto Auction

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

It's pretty rare that the Cleveland Police have a car seized, and auctioned off at this level of luxury.

The vehicle is a 2005 Bentley that will go on the block Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 9 a.m.

The opening bid is $55,000, the odometer is under 5,000 miles, and the Continental GT-Coup sounds as good as it looks.

"This is a big time, high item vehicle as you can see here. We don't normally come across these," re-affirmed Sergeant Ali Pillow spokesman for the CPD.

As for the vehicle's history, Sergeant Pillow will only tell us that the ride was part of a narcotics investigation in an Ohio community, not necessarily in Cleveland.

They can't disclose the location because the investigation could lead to other discoveries.

Often times, part of a plea agreement or a sentence, is to forfeit property.

The public is invited to the Cleveland Police Impound Lot #2 at 4300 Bradley Road Saturday, March 15, in Cleveland.

The event will take place rain or shine and close to 60 vehicles will be auctioned off.

The impound lot will open at 8 a.m. so the public can view the vehicles and the auction will begin at 9 a.m. sharp.

All sales are final and aall of the vehicles will be auctioned without warranties and guarantees' plus, 10% cash down must be presented at the time of auction; the remainder has to be paid within five days.

All proceeds from the sale of the forfeited vehicles will go to the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF). The LETF is used to purchase items and to fund investigations in furtherance of law enforcement.

The fund has been used to purchase such items as personal body armor, on-board mobile computers for police patrol cars and has funded investigations involving Internet Crimes Against Children. Money generated from the sale of abandoned vehicles will go the General Fund.

For more information, the public can contact the Cleveland Division of Police Vehicle Custodial Unit at 216.623.5342.
