The mother of a three-year-old boy who was taken to MetroHealth earlier this week appeared in court Friday.
Carla Rivera and her boyfriend, Jorge Rosario-Collazo, are charged with assault and child endangerment.
Bond for each was set at $500,000.
Tuesday Rivera's son was rushed to the hospital with severe physical trauma. He was unresponsive and is currently on life-support.
Police arrested Rivera and Rosario-Collazo shortly after.
Reporter Ed Gallek revealed earlier this week that child welfare workers have been involved with the family in the past.
