WASHINGTON (CBS5/AP) -

A former Washington, DC, teacher with Arizona ties was sentenced to 25 years in prison in a high-profile child pornography case.

Eric Toth, who lived in a Phoenix homeless shelter in 2009, spent a year on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list, filling a spot held by Osama Bin Laden before his death, and was captured in Nicaragua in 2012.

Toth had taught at a private elementary school on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, but lost his job in 2008 after another teacher found sexually explicit photographs on a school camera in Toth's possession.

Toth was sentenced in federal court in Washington, DC, on Tuesday.

Prosecutors had asked for a 30-year sentence and Toth's attorney lobbied for 22 years.
