CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer joined staff members of University Hospitals Case Medical Center and had his head shaved for St. Baldrick's at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.

"It's such a great cause," says Brian Hoyer, Browns quarterback, North Olmsted native, and St. Ignatius graduate. "All these people in green shirts getting their hair cut, they're true heroes."

Pediatric hematology-oncology physicians, researchers, nurses and others have raised money to benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation for childhood cancer research.

"When you see them around, like when I'm getting treatment in Rainbow, you see that they don't have hair and it reminds you how much they care," said Kelly Kinney, a 12-year old cancer patient. "If I see a doctor walking through UH and they don't have hair, I just feel a lot of comfort."

The St. Baldrick's head-shaving event expects to raise more than $35,000 for research.
